Team Effort Secures EW Rams 4-1 Victory
It was a closely contested match from the opening whistle through the first half. Both teams competed brilliantly and both goal keepers answered the bell when called upon. It was around the 15th minute when Christopher Coridon opened the Rams spring scoring season by pushing a breakaway goal by the Old Bridge keeper for the 1-0 lead. A very nice play by Christopher gave the Rams the well deserved 1-0 lead, and it was full steam ahead for the EW Rams from that point forward.

Carrying the attack in the second half, the Rams effort to win 50/50 balls and play aggressively led to a semi-break on goal for Sean. An Old Bridge defensemen while trying to defend his goal, kicked at the ball and and tripped Sean inside the penalty area in the process. The subsequent penalty kick was taken by Gregory, who drilled his first goal of the season through the hands of the Old Bridge keeper to give the Rams the 2-0 lead.

Strong efforts to maintain possession and compete for loose balls made the Rams very difficult for the Old Bridge Tigers to handle Sunday afternoon. Rams strikers Jamal Anderson and Charlie Hulme generated a lot of goal scoring opportunities for themselves and their teammates by attacking the Old Bridge defense. This attacking pressure led to Sean's first goal of the spring season when he dribbled a Old Bridge turnover down the left wing, firing a left-footed blast passed the Old Bridge keeper for a 3-0 lead. And, deja vu, Thomas Prummer (aka Captain Tenacity) received a pass from Umair and blazed a near identical path to goal, firing his version of a left-footed blast by the Old Bridge keeper for a game clinching 4-0 lead.

With the leadership of keeper Oliver, Umair, T.J., and Christian, the Rams defense swarmed and thwarted the Old Bridge attack all afternoon. Oliver recorded 5 saves and smartly attacked loose balls to gain possession throughout his spring debut. Jack, David and Tyler played smart, aggressive soccer in guiding the Rams to victory in their first game of the spring season.

Next Sunday @ 3pm the Rams host the Toms River Rage in their spring home opener.

See you there,
